Getting What I Wished For :
G-d Help Me--The ETC Said YES

This really is me, by the way. Or it would be me if I was blonde and had that body and those nice arms.
Tonight I was forced by a couple of good Expat friends to drink down two Bailey's (glasses, not bottles) to celebrate that my work permit was granted.
I found out on Monday via a surprise email from my contact at the ETC. Just two words: "permit ready" with a smiley face. Well, I didn't know what that meant--was it physically ready--or was it "just" approved? I had been told it would take at least another week to hear and then at least another week to be ready to pick up (for another 48 Euros, of course).
So I wrote to another contact at the ETC who has felt very sorry for me ever since I cried on the phone to her after the second application was turned down.
So she wrote back and said, "Sorry, there's been a mistake. It's not ready." I was about to s_____ in my pants at the McDonald's cafe in St. Julian's ( I was using the free WI-fi there, not eating). And then I scrolled down the email and I found in large letters:
ONLY JOKING YES IT'S READY I HAVE IT IN MY HANDS
You can come for it tomorrow morning between 8 and 12
Well, at this point, I was totally out of control and wrote back to my friend there and told her what a bad girl she was, that I had believed her, etc. Then (tell me if you're getting sick of this already), she wrote back and said she wasn't being bad--that her boss had told her to tease me a bit.
Can you believe this? After all this, it's time to tease L'Amerikan. Well, who cares--I got the f____ permit, didn't I?
Thanks to all you out there who kept me going through this ordeal. Now you have to help me get through the next part--I actually have to work full-time now for the next six months. But I wanted this, right?

Hi Sumari, it took four months following my CELTA training. Actually, that wasn't too bad--I was hired in time for the summer season---Ilene

Go for it Ilene!
Remember our talks during CELTA?
You're a good teacher and if Malta is the place for you to be in this period of your life, here will always be support to make this work.
Love,
Willy

Thanks, Andie! I'm am so scared about the hard part. And thanks for your suggestion about mixing Bailey's and Belgian chocolate. One problem though: I seem to get a headache from Bailey's, strangely enough--but not from Belgian choc. Why? xx Ilene

Hi there Alexandra--thanks a lot for helping me hang in there. I'm going to hold out until tomorrow--my regular bad girl day--for the Belgian chocolate. But if I feel like having the whole thing, I'm going to. I just picked up the permit a little while ago. Thanks a lot for the law-of-attraction theory--does it work with the lottery?----Ilene
