Remember Alan? I Saw Him Again!
“…Just my luck. I had to email my teacher A about a paper we were doing. He apparently saw my blog address--yes, this blog--and read it. And told me he read it and liked it. So, how am I supposed to write anymore about the CELTA course and how I feel, etc., etc.”
Yes, this is the same Professor A who drove me crazy last February when I trained with the CELTA course in Sliema so I could teach EFL.
I saw Alan again at a workshop yesterday—the day after I finished school (not my choice)--for the season.
I have to say that Alan looked great—a lot better than he looked when I took his class. This is how Alan looks now:

I don’t know why he looks so much better now. Could it have something to do with that we’re colleagues now instead of teacher and beaten down, ego-destroyed student?
Anyway, I’d thought I’d write about Alan again because when I did the first time, I got hundreds of hits on this site.
Anyway, I do owe Alan (and my other wonderful teacher Mr. L) who taught me everything I know about teaching EFL. You could say that A has made me what I am today—a f____ed up, unemployed American EFL teacher in Malta.

Thanks, Mary. Im stretching, believe me. Have a good Christmas and New Years xx Ilene

Hi Willy--so great to hear from you, as always. Unfortunately, the old CELTA group has not gotten together. Allison is no longer even in teaching! Maybe Ill try to get people together after the New Year. And, yes, Im going to work on new ideas during the winter. So glad youre doing so well. Miss you xxx Ilene

Wow Ilene, Alan must have made a great impression on you if he reminds you of this guy! How about the other CELTA colleagues, do you ever meet them as well?
Give them all my warmest greetings! And, just in case you read this Alan, those warm greetings include you as well. I’m a “Folk University” teacher right now, with two classes of 22 two pupils each, One class with only beginners and one class of elementary students. I love it!
And Ilene, perhaps this winter stop period will inspire you with a lot of new ideas.
Love, Willy
