Hi Jacques--Interesting what you say about the cinemas outside Malta.  We never had intermissions in the US unless it was a very long movie like Gone With the Wind.  But it is a good idea. Cant wait to have salty popcorn again.  Sometimes I even go see a movie because I want the popcorn--Ilene

It's crazy this sweet popcorn business. I'm a Maltese expat living in Luxembourg and the cinemas here give priority to sweet popcorn. The little portion of the salty popcorn they make does not sell as fast so most times you have to eat it cold ... not good for Maltese brought up on freshly popped salty (and expensive) popcorn. (Not to mention the fact that we are brought up with "Intermissions" the break in the middle of the movie at cinemas to stock up on food and drink - I always wonder why this does not happen elsewhere too... it makes too much sense!)

Hi Mike--thanks for the salt-of-the-earth advice xx Ilene

You should have know. You have to take a thermos flask full of Margaritas to the cinema. That way, you get the salt fix.

Alex--you said it, girl! xxx Ilene

Oh from a savoury girl---please pass the salt !!!

It is imperative that the action of "osmosis" occur whilst one is masticating the "pop of the corn" during a cinematic experience. This is simply outrageous !

...a little dob of butter would be nice too thank you :)

Hi Lynne--The popcorn just tasted sweet--thats all I can say. Not like Cracker Jacks--but just sweet--no salty taste that you would expect--xxx Ilene

Lynne

I thought of you when I heard that movie came out - what ever happened to your book about him?

Sorry about the sweet popcorn - though it doesn't sound all that bad to me - did it taste like the popcorn balls that I remember from long ago? Or did they just sprinkle sugar on it instead of salt - that would NOT be to my liking either!
